It’s been a little hectic here so it’s been a while since I posted but I’m back to my regular schedule now! I’ve made a couple blog updates in the last week including adding a discounts page with a bunch of discount codes for gear and races so please go check it out! Yesterday was four weeks until my 100 miler which is scary and fast approaching! I’ve had a great week of training and I’m feeling good so that makes me feel a little better. We’ve been having really nice spring weather in Toronto and it’s so much fun to run in! I didn’t realize how much I had missed warm weather runs but I’m loving it and it’s not even very warm out yet.
For my long run yesterday, I joined in the Night Terrors Run Crew group run in conjunction with the North Face run at Blue Mountain. The run was in High Park so I decided to run from my house to the run start (13km) and then join the run for 17km to make my 30km run. It worked out really well! I like running alone but it gets a little lonely on long runs so this was the best of both worlds, a solo run there and then the last 17km with a group. I left the run feeling like I could have kept running for a lot longer!
Today, I decided to run on the trails near my house. I ended up getting really lost by trying to explore some new paths. My new trail shoes that I’m trying to break in definitely don’t look new after getting stuck in the mud for a while but unfortunately they still feel new. I don’t have very long to break them in so I have some work to do there. I’m hoping to get 100km on them before my 100 miler in four weeks.
This is the first week that I’ve run 5 days since my knee injury! I’m still doing my exercises every night and I haven’t had any knee pain in weeks. Also because of the warmer weather, I started riding my bike to work this week. It was a big week!
Training this week:
Monday – rest
Tuesday – 10km
Wednesday – 15km
Thursday – 10km + 12km bike
Friday – 45 min bootcamp + 12km bike
Saturday – 30km
Sunday – 16km
Next weekend, I’m running 50k at Pick Your Poison trail run and a couple days after that I’m going to Vegas for work so lots of exciting stuff coming up.
Are you training for a spring race? Do you run better/feel more motivated in warm weather?
