Last night, I had my first 20k mid-week long run. My running/coached group meets at 6:30pm and then since everyone is at a different point in their training, we all go slightly different distances. Because the 50M I am running is in September and most fall marathons are later, I am farther along in my training than anyone else. So I went early to run the first 5k with my coach and then did the same again at the end. Anyway, by the time I got home from all this it was almost 9pm and I was starving, soaked from a thunderstorm at the beginning of the run, and sweaty. Callum was just finishing making dinner, which I assumed he would have eaten without me while I was gone running for hours. So we sat down to eat dinner at 10pm, way too late for a Wednesday night. Anyway, I telling you all this because I am extremely thankful for how support Callum is of my running! I spend hours of free time every week, either out running with a group or by myself which makes both of our lives really busy but he is nothing but supportive and encouraging about it. I wouldn’t be able to do it without him!
I am also really thankful to be able to run. I know a lot of runners who are currently injured. I was there last year. The weather was beautiful and I had to work up to being able to run 2k again. When I get to do things, like run 20k on a Wednesday, I try to keep it in perspective and remember and appreciate I am just to be able to run.
What are you thankful for?
