Easy Swiss Chard

In my weekly vegetable basket a few weeks ago, swiss chard was included. I remember being served swiss chard growing up and thinking it was just like spinach but I’ve never tried to cook it myself. After some googling I discovered there were no recipes I could find for easy swiss chard so I decided to make one myself.

I started by de-stemming the chard and cutting the stems up to cook them too. Here is how to do it, if you don’t know how.

After the chard was ready to go, I heated a pan with sesame oil (I really like the flavour, you could also use olive oil). Once it was hot, I added in one clove of garlic crushed with a garlic press (I really hate mincing garlic but if it doesn’t bother you that would work too!).

ImageAfter the garlic became fragrant and soft but not brown, I added in the chard.

ImageI put the lid on and let it wilt down for 2 or 3 minutes and it was ready to go! I added salt and pepper to taste and it was ready to go in less than 5 minutes.

I am always looking for easy, quick vegetables for dinner and this recipe is my new go to!
